International Colour Coding System

There is an international color coding system used by beekeepers to mark queens based on the year they were born or introduced to the hive. This allows beekeepers to easily identify the age of the queen.

The color coding is as follows:

White - Queens born/introduced in years ending in 1 or 6 (e.g. 2021, 2026)
Yellow - Queens born/introduced in years ending in 2 or 7 (e.g. 2022, 2027)
Red - Queens born/introduced in years ending in 3 or 8 (e.g. 2023, 2028)
Green - Queens born/introduced in years ending in 4 or 9 (e.g. 2024, 2029)
Blue - Queens born/introduced in years ending in 0 or 5 (e.g. 2020, 2025)

So for example, if a queen is marked with a green dot, that indicates she was born or introduced to the hive in 2024 or a year ending in 4 or 9.
