Benefits of Using an Uncapping Tub

  • Efficiency: Uncapping tubs allow for a more streamlined process, enabling you to uncap multiple frames in one session.
  • Cleanliness: They help contain the mess of wax and honey, making cleanup easier.
  • Honey Recovery: The design of the tub allows for maximum recovery of honey from the cappings.
  • Versatility: Our adjustable frame rest accommodates different frame sizes.

How to Use an Uncapping Tub for Beekeeping

An uncapping tub is used during the honey extraction process to hold frames of honeycomb while the wax cappings are removed. Here's a general guide on how to use an uncapping tub:

  1. Setup: Place the uncapping tub in a stable area where you plan to work. Ensure it's at a comfortable height to avoid straining your back.
  2. Frame Placement: Use the frame rest to place a frame of honeycomb securely over the tub.
  3. Uncapping: With an uncapping knife or tool, gently remove the wax cappings from the honeycomb. The cappings will fall into the tub, and any honey that is released will be caught as well.
  4. Draining: The tub should have a grate or screen at the bottom that allows honey to separate from the wax cappings and drain to the bottom of the tub.
