Advantages of using hive escape wheel such as this.

• They can deter pests and predators like ants, robber bees, and yellowjackets by making the entrance more difficult to penetrate.
• Entrance reducers can protect a weak hive from invasion by making it easier for a smaller number of bees to defend the entrance.
• Allowing for control of bee passage including open to allow for mating flights / free entrance of queen, restricition of worker bees and restriction of the queen.
